War Industry
After the start of the bombardments on Germany the war industry has been replaced to bombproof places. In March 1944 the "Organisation Todt" has begun here in the Geuldal with the construction of underground working places in the limestone hills. This site at the Bronsdaelgroeve (code name Valerie 15) had to be yield a working space of 9200 m2 for the maintenance of the BMW engines of the German bombers. Tradition says that the concrete construction has something to do with the V2 weapon. There were also constructed rail road tracks and hidings caves for the rail road equipment. Work has been done by convicts from Belgium and the Netherlands. But this site has never been in full production because the war ended. The place is now a War Memorial.
