Papierfabrieken van Huizingen
|
On top of this tower there was a water reservoir connected to the water tower on the chimney situated at the back of the building.
Paper has been made here since the 16th century. Industrialization got underway from the beginning of the 19th century. The current complex then became the property of the de Meurs family. From 1913 it became a limited company "Société Anonyme des Papeteries de Huyssinghen". In 1970 the de Meurs family sold the factory to Intermills. In the last years before the closure in 2003, the factory was operated by N.V. Catala.
