Reverse Mining
Until 1994 salt was extracted from the Kochendorf mine by the River Neckar. Then the process was reversed. The huge chambers are now filled up with waste to stabilize the ground and avoid ground movements. The white bags contain the waste ready to be taken down the shaft.
