During my stay in the United States in 2015 I got a chance to visit not really known hot strip mill in Indiana near Gary. Modern looking building wasnīt promising much on the first glance, but the inside shocked me - an old hot strip mill with SACK / MESTA signs with very interesting history.
It came from Wales (UK) where it was in operation since early 50īs. When local steel mill was shutdown in 1991 the hot strip mill could have been restarted with only one condition - not in Europe. Luckily a company from Indiana brought it to the US and the mill was restarted soon after.
But the question is - any ideas which plant in Wales was that? Thanks for your tips in advance!
