Patterns of Industry - bricks at King's Dyke Brickworks
Although the stacking of the bricks appears to have a random pattern, the arrangement is carefully constructed to ensure that all the bricks in the stack are fired as evenly as possible. Stacking is done by programmed machines, and in practice all the stacks have the same pattern of bricks facing inwards and outwards.
