The old and the new

Rails across the Blackwater Bog towards the closed Shannonbridge power station on the left. This bog and many others in the area are operated by Bord na Mona to supply 1,250,000 tonnes of peat per year to the new 150MW West Offaly power station on the right. The expected lifespan of the power station is fifteen years from 2005.
