Vargön hydroelectric power plant

The station has two Kaplan turbines (1934) and one in-pipe Kaplan turbine (1989). It is located in Göta Älv river, south of Lake Vänern. Maximum flow rate is 1000 cubic meters per second.
Interesting construction details: The two Kaplan turbines from 1934 are located above the water surface (using siphon principle). Generators are level with the roof, covered by steel canopies. The "house" with cranes is a traverse. Currently it sits above the #2 generator which is being repaired after a bearing failure.
