Mine de Saint Christophe
In Beaux-Quartiers and St Christophe quarters, the vast bauxite deposit of Vins-sur-Caramy (Var) was exploited underground from 1906 to 1945 by several owners as well as mining companies such as «Union des Bauxites» or «Bauxites de France».
The site was worked again between 1970 and the end of the eighties by Pechiney, in the form of a vast opencast mine, now flooded.
