After years of negligence, the Flemish government finally decided to pump some money into this plant, following a report saying that the chimney was in very high risk of collapsing on a nearby residential area. The whole chimney got renovated, a new roof was installed and a new gate built, making it impossible to illegally enter the place now. However, nothing else has happened since, and the former power station is still inoccupied.
