Kommutator commutator

In der Turbinenhalle des EWR in Worms sind noch zwei Dampf-Turbinen/Generatorsätze erhalten. Der hier gezeigte Kommutator einer Hilfs-Gleichstrommaschine erzeugte den Erregerstrom des Synchrongenerators. Der Generator wurde um 1910 von Siemens gebaut und war bis Anfang der 50er Jahre in Betrieb.
Two sets of steam-turbine/generators have been preserved at the engine room of the EWR electric power company at Worms (Germany). The commutator shown on this photograph is part of the helper-engine supplying the field current for the synchronous generator. The generator has been constructed by Siemens around 1910 and has been in operation until the early 1950ies.
