"Fabrik's Café"
Part of former ACEC (l'Ateliers de Constructions Electriques de Charleroi) now in development as a multi-tenant complex for small businesses and industries. And there have always to be a café nearby!
ACEC dated back to 1885 where it has been started as Société anonyme Électricité et Hydraulique à Charleroi. In 1904 it has been taken over and got the name ACEC. In 1947 ACEC merged with les Constructions Electriques de Belgique of Herstal (this name can be seen on the wall of the main building) becoming ACEC Herstal. In 1970 it became a member of the Westinghouse group. Acec has been dismantled and ceased to exist in 1992. ACEC has been a manufacturer of a wide range of electrical products; latterly electrical parts for Belgian locomotives.
