De Phenix
After a fire in 1879 the owner (Cornelis Kamphuys) of the steam rice-husking plant "De Jonge Kuiper" has rebuild the plant and give it the name "De Phenix". After WWI there was less demand for rice so they got engaged in other food products. In 1951 the company has been taken over by Meypro that produces binders and ingredients for food products. These days it is active under the name Danisco Zaandam.
