Kohleentladung / Coal delivery
Typische sog. "Merry-go-round" Kohlenzug beim entladen an GKW Ratcliffe.
Typical "merry-go-round" coal train unloading at Ratcliffe Power Station. These locomotives are fitted with very slow speed control allowing them to pass through the unloading area at approximately 1 mph. The "merry-go-round" concept enables trains to run continuously between pit or docks and power stations. Note the enormous pipes in the background. These carry the exhaust gases from the boilers to the desulphurisation plant.
