Cementifera Ligure - Vertical Kilns Battery
In the mountains behind Genova rises up a beautiful old-fashioned cement plant. Lime industry on this site dates back to XVII century, however the present complex was built in 1909. It was not modernized since 1940 (machineries, lighting system, etc.) and today, after 15 years from the closure, visiting this place is quite a jump back in time.
The site is divided in three different parts: from the top of the mountain going down, we can find the quarry and the galleries, then the kilns battery with four vertical kilns charged from the top, then at the base of them the post-processing building with silos, rotating-mills, bag-filling room, workshops and offices.

This impressive industrial monument is recorded as primary heritage site in the regional list, as it is practically intact; nevertheless, plans for transformation in museum-site are still ideas.
