Zeepziederij De Adelaar
Former soap works "De Adelaar" at the Zaan in Wormerveer (NL). The history of this family firm (Dekker) dates back to 1772. The production of soap here starts in 1896. After a big fire the present building has been erected in 1906/1908 with on top of the water tower an eagle (adelaar) in reinforced concrete with a wingspread of 6 m. After WW2 the production of soap has been finished here and the building got a function as a storehouse. After 1985 it is getting unoccupied and as the years are passing by the building is getting in decline. Some years ago it has been classified as a monument and has been restored. In present times it's in use by the fashion house Vanilla.
