SNIA VISCOSA - Varedo I
The biggest plant of the historical italian former chemical-fibres company SNIA is in Varedo, the town where I live. This shot shows the "Varedo I" plant, the older one. Here, in 1924, started the production of Rayon-Viscose, followed by Lanital (caseine-fibre) and Merinova.
This view is from the huge building of "Rayon-vertical-cord", and from the left: sheds-building for the typical textile lavorations; the Tower of Smokes; the first power plant; the chimney of the first power plant; the second "huge" power plant; moving in direction of you the chemical-process-buildings (with many floors) and finally, the small building in the right-angle is the "maturation plant".
This part of the factory was closed in 1982, the other one (after the right margine of this photo) in 2003.
