Kershaw Mill 1
This former silk mill in Macclesfield, Cheshire, has for many years been occupied by F Harding Limited. Established in 1949 the mill processed Polyester, Polyamide, Polypropylene, Aramid and other speciality industrial yarns. The company produces a wide range of yarns from basics to more complex ones such as monofilament/spun yarnand multifilament/monofilament mixtures. End uses are as diverse as sewing threads, conveyor belting, tyre cording, geotextiles, carpet backing, dental floss and netting.

Harding's moved out of the mill in 2006 to new premises out of town where lorry access was easier. The future of this part of the mill is uncertain although there are plans for conversion to office use. It currently stands empty and is already deteriorating.
