Im Jahr 1874 gr?ndete Johann Desch in Aschaffenburg seine Kleiderfabrik und begann als erster, Anz?ge in zun?chst drei Konfektionsgr??en zu fertigen und begr?ndete so den "Anzug von der Stange". Aschaffenburg sowie der Spessart entwickelten sich schnell zu einem Zentrum der Bekleidungsindustrie ? zu Spitzenzeiten betrug der Anteil am deutschen Markt 17%, die Heimschneiderei brachte Arbeit in die bis dahin eher ?rmlichen D?rfer des angrenzenden Spessarts. (Teilweise arbeitete bis zu 1/3 der Bev?lkerung f?r die Bekleidungsindustrie.)
In den vergangenen Jahren mussten sich immer mehr Firmen der Konkurrenz aus Osteuropa und Fernost geschlagen geben. Die Firma Desch existiert allerdings immer noch ? am Eingang zum alten Werksgel?nde ist dieses Pf?rtnerh?uschen aus den 60er Jahren zu finden. Inzwischen wurden die Produktionsanlagen auf diesem Gel?nde abgerissen, das Pf?rtnerh?uschen soll zum Kiosk umgebaut werden.

Gatekeeper?s cab
In 1874, Johann Desch founded his clothing factory in Aschaffenburg. He started to produce suits in fixed sizes (in contrast to tailor-made suits that had been the only way up to then) and thus invented the ?suit off the shelf?. Aschaffenburg and the adjacenting Spessart region soon began to develop into a centre of clothing production ? in the best of times, 17% of German clothing was made in this area, cottage industry brought work into the poor Spessart. (Up to 1/3 of the people used to sew clothes.)
In the past years, many companies had to succumb to competitors in Eastern Europe and the Far East, but the Desch company still exists.This gatekeeper?s cab from the sixties can be found at the entrance to the old factory site. Meanwhile, the production facilities at this site have been torn down, the cab will be converted into a kiosk.
