Jeffrey Mine pit n°3 - Asbestos - Canada
The Jeffrey mine started in 1879 in Asbestos, Québec, Canada. William H. Jeffrey, gentleman farmer, was the 1st investor to believe in the future of Asbestos. First exploited as an open pit, the mine was closed in 2012 and was at this moment an underground mine. It was supposed to be the largest asbestos open pit mine in the world. Pit n°3 was built in 1996 and is 67m high with a 7000hp winch.
