One of the great frustrations regarding disused industrial structures in Britain is that even scheduling as an ancient monument is no guarantee of preservation in reasonable condition. This is the Clive enginehouse at the Talargoch lead mine near Prestatyn in North Wales. A 100 inch Cornish engine pumped here from 1862 to 1884 before removal to a colliery near Wrexham. The building stands in a field with leisure developments now encroaching onto the mine site. The roof is in a poor state and will no doubt soon collapse entirely followed by crumbling of the walls. Very little value appears to be placed upon such structures by the very authorities who listed their importance in the first place.

Das dach ist in einem armen Staat und wird kein zweifel bald zusammenbruch, der völlig von zerbrökkeln von den wänden gefolgt wird. Sehr kleiner wert erscheint, auf solche strukturen durch die genauen autoritäten gestellt zu werden, die ihre wichtigkeit erstens aufgeführt haben.
