Redcar Himmelfahrt

Ab 17 Februar 2010 soll das Hochofen bei Redcar beruhigt werden. Im Prinzip soll es eingemottet werden; ob ein Auferstehen zu erwarten ist kann man nur bezweifeln.
For non-German speakers, the word 'Himmelfahrt' literally means a 'sky journey', suggested by the way the top of the blast furnace appears to be riding on the clouds, but is specifically used for the Ascension of Christ. I then comment that although the intention is to mothball the blast furnace, a Resurrection seems unlikely. The blast furnace is due to close down on the 17th February 2010, so this picture was taken in the last few days of operation.
