Domino Sugar Refinery, Williamsburg (New York)
|
The huge flue in the picture gives the impression of a heavy industry location, but in fact this is part of a large sugar refining plant. The refinery closed in 2004 and the site is due for development with a mix of office and residential accommodation, and although some of the older buildings will survive, this particular bit will not.
Thomas Ghey's picture shows the complex from a similar angle. The main brick building has landmark status and will be preserved within the development.
