Pastificio Pantanella (Via dei Cerchi)
|
In Rome everything is old, even reuse of closed industrial plants. The big Pantanella flour and pasta mill was opened in 1881 beside the Circus Maximus, at the time a busy manufacturing area. Pantanella was the most important industry in the city and the complex included also a representative palace for office and administration.
The mill was closed in 1929 and moved to a more modern plant near Porta Maggiore. One year later, the old factory in Via dei Cerchi was reopened as a "Museum of the City of Rome".
